James Suckling – Super-concentrated and super-elegant, this is as refined as dry riesling can be. And after you’ve taken in the ravishing beauty of the peachy fruit, the lime freshness and what they do for each other, comes a tidal wave of crushed-rock minerality that sweeps you away. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. James Suckling.com 2022
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2021 Dürnsteiner Riesling Ried Kellerberg opens with a deep, intense and coolish nose with notes of wet black rocks, Timut pepper berries, black tea leaves and herbs intertwining with concentrated and ripe white-stone and passion fruit aromas. On the palate, this is a rich and concentrated, tightly woven and dense, round and elegant Kellerberg that stopped fermenting at the end of January with seven grams per liter of residual sugar. Still a tiny bit too much for me, but in the long term, this is a terrific Kellerberg. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in September 2022. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

There is an international consensus that Kellerberg is the absolute model vineyard. This vertiginous, barren and purist primitive-rock terrace, which is exposed from south to south-east and located at the exit of a side valley, creates a very special microclimate. The Kellerberg vineyard is already pampered by the sun early in the morning. During night, cool air streaming in from the bordering woods fosters the development of the complex texture and delicately nuanced, usually exotic aromas and flavors typical of this wine. In fall, large temperature differences between day and night shape the grapes. Honey melon, mango, passion fruit, banana and fully ripe peach, concise minerally notes as a dowry of the meager, weathered soil, and the extremely deeply rooting old vines make the wines of this site unparalleled and outstanding. We are fascinated about the wines from Kellerberg due to their filigree elegance, which can hardly be expressed in words.
Pale yellow-green with silver reflections. The nose marries delicate aromas of peach, apricot and tropical fruit with a distinct stoniness. There is a creaminess on the palate that is beautifully balanced by an underlying minerality and crisp acidity. Juicy white stone fruit flavours carry through to the long, elegant finish. – FX Pichler

About Austrian Wine
Austria is a country with over 4000 years of wine making history, however, it unfortunately doesn't seem to enjoy the status and popularity that the high quality of it's wines deserve. Decades later, the country is still feeling the effects of a scandal in 1985 that destroyed its credibility at the time.
Grüner Veltliner is the most important wine made in Austria, distinguished by its lightly fruity, noticeable spice and characteristic white pepper notes. This variety comprises roughly a third of all plantings. In terms of volume, Riesling plays a much smaller role than in Germany, but is responsible for some of the most appreciated dry white wines made in the country.
In red varietals, Austrian native varieties are dominant and include the tart and peppery Zweigelt, spicy and dense Blaufränkisch and juicy Saint Laurent.
