Critic reviews

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Medium to deep garnet-purple, the 2017 Meyney opens a little broody, giving way to red cherries, black berries and stewed tea scents with a waft of dried herbs. Medium-bodied, the palate is chock-full of vibrant black fruits with ripe, grainy tannins and a refreshing kick to the finish.

Vintage Vigilant

We aim to have all wines above $30 be vintage specific. In the case the listed vintage is out of stock and you note you would like that particular vintage, we will inform you via email for approval to go ahead.

About this Wine

One of the oldest properties in the Medoc, Chateau Meyney is a reference that has contributed immensely to the reputation of the renowned Saint-Estephe appellation on the Left Bank of Bordeaux.

Celebrated for its robust wines, Chateau Meyney has experienced new impetus under the leadership of the very talented Anne Le Naour, assistant general manager and oenologist of the property, and with the advice of renowned oenologist Hubert From Bouärd.

The 2012 vintage confirms the rank of the property’s First Wine as one of the best in the appellation, with the Chateau Meyney 2012 already showing signs of great success.

As they say, great wines are born in great terroirs, and the vines of Chateau Meyney have benefitted from all the conditions necessary to produce great Saint-Estephe wines with inimitable charm. Situated on a beautiful hill near the Gironde, Chateau Meyney watches over a rare vineyard of about fifty hectares in one piece. The exceptional terroir of the property combines soils of Garonne gravel on the same blue clay subsoil found at Petrus.

Produced from a blend dominated by the emblematic red grape variety of the Medoc, le Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), complemented by Merlot (31%) and Petit Verdot (11%), the Chateau Meyney 2017 reflects the typical character of a great wine from Saint-Estephe.

A superb expression of fruit, elegant woodiness, a juicy texture on the palate, a perfectly defined tannic structure - the 2017 vintage is the result of hard work from the team. Accurate, harmonious, structured and balanced with great elegance, the Chateau Meyney 2017 rewards the meticulous work of Anne Le Naour. A real success for Chateau Meyney that promises to be a vintage of great finesse and good aging potential.
