Beltana is produced using 100% Chardonnay grapes selected from the cool, high altitude slopes in the Adelaide Hills. The finest parcels with the greatest ageing potential are selected to make the Beltana, which is one of our ‘Small Batch Series’ wines. Ageing for six years on lees after the secondary bottle fermentation has resulted in added complex characters of toasted nut, sweet pastry and candied lemon. The palate is long, with a crisp, mouth-watering finish.A persistent fine bead and zesty sherbet acidity gives extra lift to these delicious aromas and flavours.

Adelaide Hills

The Adelaide Hills is one of the largest geographical wine regions in Australia, and amongst the most diverse in terms of climate, soil and topography. Because of this, many different varietals are planted here with the most dominant being Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It is generally thought of as a cooler region, especially when compared to neighbouring Barossa to the north and Mclaren vale and Langhorne Creek to the south.
NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been popular in Australia for a while now, but Adelaide hills Sauvignon Blanc (the most planted grape in the region) could be considered the Aussie Savvy Blanc. From www.adelaidehillswine.com.au about their Sauvignon Blanc: “Wines that are textured, edgy, vibrant and dry with exceptional fruit definition, length and crispness that marry superbly with summer seafood.”
You can also find some cool climate shiraz from the Adelaide hills, defying the more common big bold style that is usually seen in Australian Shiraz.

James Halliday – Disgorged Nov ’23. This wine spends six years on lees and holds six grams dosage. A richer, toastier expression that holds all its elements in harmony and with complexity. Scents of brioche, lemon curd, sugared almonds, green apple and candied orange peel. The palate is generous, soft and struck with vibrant bubbles, a little minerally/saline amongst green apple, honey toast, more lemon curd and a tickle of piquant ginger. A briny line of acidity keeps things fresh and elevated. Delightful drinking here with a myriad of detail.
