About this Wine

The great-grandfather of the current owner, Pierre Daniel, acquired the property in 1908. He was the son of a farm worker. Originally, the property consisted of 10 hectares of vineyards. His son, Maurice Daniel — an aviator during the First World War — took over the property in 1919 and developed it.

In 1945, his two sons, Francis and George Daniel, joined the estate and continued to expand it, then his granddaughter Mauricette Daniel took the lead in 1985. Today,

Domaine La Sobilane consists of 54 hectares of vineyards bordered by garrigues, but these days it is used less and less for the production of Rivesaltes in favour of the production of mass-consumption wine.

Fortunately, some old Rivesaltes vintages from 1950 and 1960 have been preserved and kept in concrete tanks, built in the early 1940s.
