Aged in oak casks, 30% of which were new for 18 months. Dense pitch black colour with a very deep dark red black hue. Soaring out of the glass is a mix of black cherry and liquorice aromas gently infused with clove, smoked meats, earth and black olive with a burst of blackpepper as an end note. Medium to full in body, rich black cherry and liquorice fruits are overlaid with dried clove followed by smoked dried meats and earthy dried herbs. There’s plenty of spice and black pepper on the finish which is supported by a robust tannin structure that has plenty of underlying muscle. Very smoky and meaty with a long spicy blackpepper infused aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
