Lost Farm Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from two vineyards in the Tamar valley. The first is located just south of the township of Launceston. Glenbothy Vineyard has a north easterly aspect and is characterised by dark volcanic clays. The second vineyard is located 50mins to the north of Launceston on the western banks of the Tamar river with distinctive alluvial clay. Both sites deliver Sauvignon Blanc that is bursting with freshness, acidity and vibrant fruits. The grapes were harvested based on flavour ripeness in late March and then pressed to stainless steel before being lightly racked prior to fermentation.
The wine was lightly fined and filtered prior to being bottled young and fresh. Clean, light, fragrant aromas of salad greens and lemon juice; The palate is light, refreshing and clean with passionfruit and gooseberry notes. Appealing varietal fruit flavour of some charm, finishing firm with a refreshing aftertaste. Intense flavour.

Tasmanian Wine

The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.
More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
