The Wine Front – "It's like a familiar face. Black pepper and cloves, florals and roasted nuts, twiggy spice aplenty, a touch of Mezcal. These characters of course are attached to cherried fruit, bordering on boysenberry and perhaps touching on cranberry too. The point being that it has all the characters you'd hope for in a Tasmanian Syrah, and the fruit profile to match, though it is quite slender, with apple-y acidity, and as a result its quality isn't quite as emphatic as perhaps it could be. But it's still delicious, in its style, and I certainly had no hesitation in taking it from the tasting bench to the dinner table." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

Our relationship with Shiraz began well over 40 years ago, when the first of these vines were planted at Meadowbank and have been lovingly nurtured by the Ellis family ever since. No doubt there were a few raised eyebrows, and a few words probably being muttered under disbelieving breaths.
An elegant and purposeful step away from big, bold Shiraz. It is wholeheartedly light and ethereal, in all its unashamed glory.

Tasmanian Wine
The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.
“Having been to many wine tastings over the years, I can definitely say from a personal standpoint that Tasmanian Chardonnay and Pinot noir are always ones I look forward to trying if they are on the menu. They are almost always high calibre wines that can easily compete against what the rest of the world has to offer in these varietals.” Jason C. – World Wine.
While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.
More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
