Mezcal Vago Cuishe (Master Distiller Jarquin) is an artisanal mezcal made from the wild agave Cuishe (a sub-variety of Agave Karwinskii) in Miahuatlán, Oaxaca. It is produced by renowned master distiller Emigdio Jarquín Ramíre.
Aromas: Earthy notes of straw, wet soil, and fresh greens often dominate the nose. Other aromas can include vegetal hints of tomato leaf and eucalyptus, with some batches also showing cooked agave, white pepper, and citrus.
Palate: The mezcal offers a balance of complex flavors, including cooked sugar and toffee, followed by green bell pepper and grass. Reviewers have noted a strong minerality and a characteristically dry, starchy quality due to the agave's structure.
Finish: The finish is typically long, dry, and earthy, with lingering notes of soil, dust, and hay. Some batches may include more obscure aftertastes of tamarind, chili, or lime.
