Vintage 2022 season started with cooler than average conditions, following with some warmer days toward the end of flowering resulting in good fruit set. Mild and dry but cool conditions condintued throughout summer resulting in a later than usual vintage allowing for slow and even ripening. Harvest was later than average, but ripening was even, and quality is excellent. The wites show good flavour intensity, freshness and good natural acidity. Fruit was hand picked in the early hours of the morning when the tepreature is at its coolest, then gently pressed into a fermenter with minimal skin contact to preserve freshness. The juice fermented for 7 days prior to being transferred to stainless steel tank for ageing. With minimal handling, we aim to retain the freshness and vibrancy of the variety.

Adelaide Hills

The Adelaide Hills is one of the largest geographical wine regions in Australia, and amongst the most diverse in terms of climate, soil and topography. Because of this, many different varietals are planted here with the most dominant being Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It is generally thought of as a cooler region, especially when compared to neighbouring Barossa to the north and Mclaren vale and Langhorne Creek to the south.

NZ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has been popular in Australia for a while now, but Adelaide hills Sauvignon Blanc (the most planted grape in the region) could be considered the Aussie Savvy Blanc. You can also find some cool climate shiraz from the Adelaide hills, defying the more common big bold style that is usually seen in Australian Shiraz.
