“Widely considered to be Australia’s finest viognier from the stellar 2021 Eden Valley vintage. This is a very good confluence of events! As per usual, it is singing straight out of the bottle, showing all the characters that we have come to expect from this wine. Pristine stone and citrus fruits, the pitch-perfect textural components and savoury nuance. What is apparent, for a great year, is the shimmering acidity, precision, detail and clarity; all cranked up a notch with this release and the wine’s energy and drive are spot on. There’s been a pretty good run of vintages in this neck of the woods recently but this is the best Virgilius I have seen thus far.”

This elegant wine will take you on an aromatic journey as it evolves in the glass.

Pale gold in colour with green highlights. Aromas of white flowers and fresh apricots, cardamom, white pepper and fresh ginger. Lifted ginger spice is layered on the palate with mineral sourdough like texture and complex apricots and almond savouriness. The trademark Viognier texture of the palate is clearly evident in this wine. It is complex while at the same time showing purity and restraint that will unwind slowly in the glass and take the imbiber on a sensory journey. The Virgilius, while showing all the virtues of great Viognier as a young wine, will reward cellaring as it evolves in the bottle, with even more layers of flavours and aroma.
