About this Wine

Vintage 2022

After a dry and relatively cold winter in 2021, water shortages continued to increase throughout 2022. This began with a dry and mild spring, quickly followed by an unusually early and hot summer. As a result, the harvest began early, starting in mid-August. The traditional regional grape variety, Grenache, benefited from these weather conditions, producing particularly elegant red wines in 2022.

Terroir

The estate's soils comprise different types of sand, clay and fragments of calcareous rock, providing excellent natural filtration and contributing to fleshy, well-balanced wines.

Vinification & Ageing

The grapes are carefully sorted directly in the vineyard. Gentle extraction of colour and tannins is achieved through several daily pump-overs, followed by the co-fermentation of the three main grape varieties over a long maceration period of three to four weeks. The final blend is then aged on fine lees in tank for nine to twelve months.

Tasting Notes

The wine displays a bright garnet colour. On the nose, fruity red berry and floral aromas of blackcurrant buds are accompanied by subtle touches of liquorice. The palate offers crunchy fruit flavours, reminiscent of Burlat cherry, complemented by accents of garrigue, including thyme, olive and bay leaf. The wine is beautifully balanced, moving between lively freshness and rounded texture. Delicate tannins define the character of the 2022 vintage, while a refreshing minty finish evokes the spirit of Provence.

Food & Wine Pairing

Perfect with grilled beef fillet with anchovy cream, vegetable lasagna with zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes, or Basquaise-style chicken.
