Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is one of the more muscular premiers crus in the range, offering up aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, citrus confit, wet stones, white flowers and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and textural, with a generous core of fruit underpinned by fine cut and chalky extract, it has turned out well.
About This Wine
Since its foundation in 1959, Domaine William Fèvre has become one of the biggest landowners in the region with 78 hectares of prestigious vineyards and is often cited as a benchmark for quality and terroir expression. Vinification is very traditional with fermentation and maturation on fine lees undertaken in a combination of stainless and seasoned oak (ave. 6 years old).
Mont de Milieu is a Premier Cru vineyard with double exposure and therefore benefits from a higher average temperature and more sunshine, resulting in wines with great fruit intensity and body. From the superb 2018 vintage this is full-bodied and fleshy, with a rich core of citrus and orchard fruits, but is tempered by a fine thread of acidity and delicate chalky texture.
