First Drop is making wines with flavour, texture and a splash of funk; from fruit sourced from unique vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Barossa to bring you a diverse, deliciously exciting and thought provoking line up of flavours.
This classic Portuguese variety, Touriga Nacional is ideally suited to the maritime climate of McLaren Vale. A lively red, this vinho do vale is made for immediate enjoyment.
A bouquet of lifted red and blue fruits with a hint of Earl Grey. The palate is juicy, pure and bright with dense layers of ripe mixed berries, subtle spice complexity, fine tannins and a length that keeps on rolling.
This wine could lay down for many years to come but I just can’t see it lasting that long once tried!

James Halliday – Sleek, glossy and featuring a breezy sense of drinkability, it is little wonder that Portuguese grape varieties are winning us over. Deeply coloured with a plush dark plum and blueberry fruit base, plenty of earthy, spicy notes and a floral flick of the tail, the tannins are relatively gentle and powdery, retreating back into the fruit and the cadence is bright. Zesty yet fruit-driven and good drinking. – Dave Brookes
