Appearance
The wine is deep garnet in colour.
Aroma
Aromas reminiscent of black currant, pomegranate, baking spice, forest floor and espresso.
Palate
The palate is rich and textured with flavours of black cherry, dark chocolate, leather, and warm oak spices. The site gives the wine great tannin structure that is bold but integrated.
Region Notes
Sycamore Vineyard—Rutherford (100%): Small 24-acre vineyard located about 1.2 miles south of Bosché, right up against the Mayacamas Range, this vineyard has a rich clay loam. Sycamore Vineyard produces small berries reminiscent of mountain fruit berries, with intense extract of color and flavor. The color is very dark early in the fermentation, with flavors of black currant and blackberry with a forest floor complexity.
Vinification
After cold soaking for 3 days, the fermentation was in stainless steel tanks at 85°-90°.
Vintage Notes
Abundant winter rains helped refresh the groundwater and our reservoirs. Bud break was a little late, the vines responded to the water and moderate spring weather with plenty of growth. Good weather prevailed during bloom giving us an even fruit set. The summer was fairly moderate, with plenty of sun during the day and marine influences during the night. The harvest was near ideal with average timing and crop size. The wines have great elements of fruit and earth with a well-integrated tannin structure that will help them age well for decades.

Wines from Napa Valley
One of the world's most highly regarded regions for wine production as well as tourism. The Napa Valley started to bring worldwide recognition to California’s winemaking abilities after finding success in the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. Both a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were submitted which bested several famous French labels in a blind tasting. These results cemented Napa’s reputation for being able to produce wines equal to that in quality of the very best from the Old World.
In red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley today, covering half the land and commanding the highest prices per ton. Straight Napa Cabernet is one of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, a marvellous addition to any wine collection or cellar. With such high-quality Cabernet production, many winemakers also focus on creating fine Bordeaux blends. Other notable red wine varietals produced in the Napa include: Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc.
The most prominent whites from the Napa are Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
