About This Wine
This comes from a very old clos (walled vineyard) on a rocky vein of hard limestone in the lower part of the Pouilly-Vinzelles slope. It is therefore classed as Mâcon-Vinzelles. The oldest plants in this 0.70-hectare plot are now over 100 years old and the average age of the vines today sits at around 50 years. Raised entirely in tank, the fruit was harvested on 29th August, after the fruit gained a full degree in potential alcohol on its last day before picking! In spite of the late burst, it remains a wonderfully energetic and vibrant wine with great drive, a core of succulent crushed herb and pear fruit shot through with bright, citrusy acidity and powdery structure. In the context of white Burgundy, an absolute bargain.
