Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc 2016
After three drought vintages Lieu Dit finally had a very cool, long growing season with plenty of rain. The wine is super elegant and high toned with great acidity. Lots of stoney mineral notes, citrus, melon and white flowers.
A combination of both tank and barrel fermentations that are aged in neutral barrels.

The Wine Front – They've got the best names for wine landmarks in California. Here, sauvignon blanc is sourced from three vineyards in non other than Happy Canyon, in Santa Ynez Valley. So happy! This is a pretty hip winemaking project by a couple of winemaker/restaurateur/impresarios out of Santa Barbara. They make wines mostly with Loire grape varieties. This sauvignon blanc sees tank and barrel ferment. Straight up gooseberry, snow pea, grassy scents in the bouquet. You're tuned into sauvignon blanc. Sniff of wet stone gets the mineral thing happening. Palate is juicy yet lean, succulent and tart, mid palate gets lightly creamy, and then it's pleasurably tangy and zingy through the cut of acid that closes. It's really good sauvignon blanc with a touch of textural complexity. For fanciers of the variety, this feels fancy.
Robert Parker/Wine Advocate – Starting off the three Sauvignon Blancs, and a blend from the two single vineyard, the Sauvignon Blanc is a smoking effort that's loaded with green citrus, lychee, mint and floral aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, crisp, racy and balanced, it's an outstanding Sauvignon Blanc to drink over the coming couple of years.
