Huon Hooke – "Dense and quite concentrated chardonnay with grapefruit, oyster shell, hazelnut, bran biscuit, vanilla and spicy oak flavours. Seamless, integrated wine that is more vinous than fruity with an appealing savoury edge." 96 Points – Bob Campbell, Real Review
About This Wine
This is a rare opportunity to taste a Chardonnay by the hand of Millet. It's a powerful, opulent style made in a Burgundian vain. It's an outstanding example from Central Otago and likely one of the finest Chardonnays you will taste from the region.
Francois has made the Antipodes Pinot Noir alongside Pujol for several vintages now. And here comes a Chardonnay made to his own exacting Burgundian standards. The lone Chardonnay in the Comte de Vogue range is a rare-as-hens-teeth Musigny Blanc from only 0.66 hectares planted in the Grand Cru. If you ever see a bottle, do whatever you can to taste it - it's one of those mythic unicorn wines that apparently is mind-blowing yet no one has ever tasted it.
