Excellent drinking. Excellent value. Flavours of plum, redcurrant, peppercorn and vanilla cream. Polished, poised and smooth. Palate has breadth, body and ripeness to it. Indeed it feels generous throughout. The kind of red you could serve to anyone. Flashes of spice but not in-your-face about it. Really good form here.
James Halliday – Mid-deep red; pepper, spice, plum and red and dark fruits lead to a spice-laden and finely grained palate. Balanced and plush, this is a lovely glass of wine.
James Halliday – JAMES HALLIDAY - HALLIDAY'S WINE COMPANION A flavoursome sparking style of bold, deep crimson hue. Lovely pink pepper and pomegranate complexity is underlined by candied dosage, jostling with zesty grapefruit tang. It's unashamedly full and colourful, yet holds its tannin texture comfortably.
James Halliday – Other than gentle pressing and low extraction, there's nothing special about the vinification, leaving the pure fruit of the cool Grampians climate to work its magic. There's a softness to the flavours that coexist with the low pH and minerally acidity, Meyer lemon and lime with tropical nuances.
James Halliday – Opaque purple-red. Amazing colour. Dense, ripe black fruit, a faint sauvage note and spice. Concentrated and controlled with a web of green apple acidity and fine tannin. Whatever oak it has seen, it has just sucked it up. Big, fresh, maybe brutal, but so well done. Amazing durif.
James Halliday – 12yo vines, machine-harvested, 5 days cold soak, open-fermented in small batches with cultured yeast, 30 days post-ferment maceration, matured in used oak for 12 months. Good colour for nebbiolo, clear crimson; the perfumed bouquet is already on song with rose petals and cherry blossom, the palate pure nebbiolo, at this stage flexing its tannin muscles rippling through the cherry fruits. Just be patient.
