About this Wine

Region notes
High-elevation winegrowing requires a painstaking, labor intensive approach. Thin, rocky soils and steep slopes make water retention a challenge and erosion a threat, but the vines benefit from the struggle and produce concentrated flavors. The high altitude keeps midday temperatures cooler than those in the valley below, while the position above the fog line gives grapes longer daily exposure to sunlight. This regularly extends the growing season into November, and the increased hang-time results in peak ripeness and full varietal complexity.

Winemakers comments
For the 2016 harvest, we had an almost perfect spring, the growing conditions during the summer had minor extremes and the ripening period was almost as ideal. September had a brief late heat spike and a touch of rain fell in October, rounding out a great season. The Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from this vintage is a fantastic example of a Bordeaux style blend hitting all the right notes. Seamless with black and blue fruits, great floral notes, structural silky tannins working in harmony for a long, balanced finish.

Wines from Napa Valley

One of the world's most highly regarded regions for wine production as well as tourism. The Napa Valley started to bring worldwide recognition to California’s winemaking abilities after finding success in the Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. Both a Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were submitted which bested several famous French labels in a blind tasting. These results cemented Napa’s reputation for being able to produce wines equal to that in quality of the very best from the Old World.

In red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley today, covering half the land and commanding the highest prices per ton. Straight Napa Cabernet is one of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, a marvellous addition to any wine collection or cellar. With such high-quality Cabernet production, many winemakers also focus on creating fine Bordeaux blends. Other notable red wine varietals produced in the Napa include: Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Franc.

The most prominent whites from the Napa are Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
