About this Wine
"Allocation only, email wine@worldwine.com.au to secure allocation"

Château d'Issan, Troisième Cru Classé en 1855, proudly sits on one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Margaux appellation. Its 53 hectare vineyard of gravelly and clayey hilltops faces the Gironde estuary and benefits from an exceptional micro-climate protecting it from too cold weather conditions, such as the frosts that hit the Bordeaux region in April 2017. The vineyard of Château d'Issan is planted with vines around 40 years old and is worked in biodynamics. After a manual harvest followed by a plot by plot vinification, Château d'Issan 2017 has been aged in oak barrels for 18 months. With a blend dominated by 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot, the 2017 vintage boasts a beautiful deep purple color with garnet highlights and distills an elegant bouquet of black fruits, crushed blueberries, black currants, and juicy black plums intermixed with floral notes of violets and a subtle hint of licorice. On the palate, the 2017 Château d'Issan is moderately full-bodied with a mellow structure thanks to abundant, velvety tannin. The fruit present on the nose is perfectly retranscribed in the mouth and develops its aromas in the middle of the mouth, coating the tongue and the inside of the cheeks with fresh and ripe notes evolving slowly towards a remarkably long finish tinged with delicate spicy touches. Château d'Issan 2017 is just entering its peak of maturity. Built for long cellaring, it will continue to evolve for at least 15 years, revealing itself fully only to the most patient wine lovers!
