Fruit for this wine comes entirely from Tim Kidman’s vineyard; specifically blocks 1 and 2. These blocks have been identified as being of particularly exceptional quality, which drove our winemaking team to craft a wine that showcased their outstanding character. These established vines are 50+ years old, and rest in classic terra rossa over limestone soils. They are naturally low yielding (approximately 5T/ha), producing beautifully concentrated fruit that thrives from minimal, but clever viticulture.

Coonawarra Wine

The Coonawarra wine region is most known for its Cabernet Sauvignon that is produced on red “terra rossa” soil. This clay soil is one of the most notable in the “New World” of wine covering an area of only 15kmx2km. The terra rossa soil also overlies soft, penetrable limestone and it is this uncommon combination that makes this region so special.
“Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted variety in the world and Coonawarra is one of the few regions where free draining soils and maritime ripening conditions achieve the ultimate varietal expression.” Coonawarra.org
From Coonawarra Cabernet you can expect a medium bodied red with powerful yet polished tannins, luscious dark berry fruit, herb and mint flavours as well as satisfying length.
While half of region’s production is Cabernet, the limestone soils also suit planting of Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon blanc.

World Wine – "Medium deep colour. Intense blackcurrant, blackberry aromas with cedar/ mocha oak notes. Generous, supple and claret-like with plentiful cassis, blackberry, mulberry fruits, earthy notes fine looseknit grainy textures, and well-balanced mocha, vanilla oak. Finishes cedary with fruit sweet notes and attractive mineral length. A very smart Coonawarra Shiraz reflecting vine age, classic terra rossa soils and empathetic winemaking. Drink now."
