From the stony slopes at Glenguin, where the yields average only 1.5 tonnes per acre, this red has the spicy fruit and savoury characters of Shiraz complemented by a twist (usually 10%) of Tannat, which adds purple colour, damson fruit and an extra edge to this unique blend.

The Wine Front – Only 300 cases made. Has previously included a percentage of tannat; not sure on this release. Complex herb and twig notes thread their way through a powerful serving of dark, cherried fruit flavour. It’s a powerful expression of Hunter shiraz but it’s not an over-ripe or over-done one. Tannin, length and balance are all ship-shape. Everything would indicate that this has a fine future ahead. Only 300 cases made.
