Tapanappa is the 21st-century chapter of an adventure that pioneered the modern era of the Adelaide Hills wine region. Tapanappa is the name that Brian Croser has given to his ongoing family-owned, fine-wine enterprise based in the Piccadilly Valley where it began more than 40 years ago as Petaluma.
The late-ripening of a small crop in perfect cool, dry and sunny conditions, has again defined a very special Chardonnay from our unique vineyards in the distinguished Piccadilly Valley terroir. The 2021 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay is quite aromatically shy and restrained although the flavours are intense and the texture significant. The colour is lemon with a green sheen. The aroma is of ripe golden almost mushy peach with a croissant pastry complexity imparted by yeast and French oak. The flavour is full, ripe and sweet with a savoury acid and grapefruit finish.

World Wine – Pale colour. Attractive white peach, apricot, nectarine, grapefruit aromas with tonic water notes. Creamy textured and buoyant with abundant stonefruit, grapefruit flavours, fine slinky/ al dente textures, underlying nougat, hint aniseed notes and fresh long acidity. A very expressive chardonnay showing perfectly ripe fruit and superb precision. An earlier drinking style but should keep for a while. Andrew Caillard MW (The Vintage Journal) - 96 points
