About this Wine

There are two clones of Pinot Noir in Three Wishes Vineyard. The unknown clones occupy most of the site, and a small portion of MV6 is also present. The MV6 at this site is very low-yielding and packs a heap of flavour and structure. Ricky upped the bunch component to 40% this year to “match the concentration from the low yields.” Maturation occurred in old barriques for 11 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. The wine then matured in the bottle for another 12 months or so before release. Old vines, low yields, and a cool, even year come together beautifully here.

Tasmanian Wine

The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
