The 2023 VGR Pinot Noir brings together two of the Willamette Valley's most celebrated sites, blending the aromatic lift and mineral precision of Hyland Vineyard's old, own-rooted vines, planted in 1972 in volcanic McMinnville soils, with the richness and supple tannins of Shea Vineyard, rooted in ancient marine sedimentary soils of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Widely regarded as one of the greatest vintages in recent memory, 2023 produced a wine of vibrant wild raspberry, black cherry, and rose petal, layered with dried herbs and forest floor, carried by silky tannins and bright acidity. The finish reflects the soil-born tension of both source vineyards, refined and expressive in equal measure. Crafted with precision, the 2023 VGR Pinot Noir is a vivid introduction to the 00 Wines approach to red wine and a seamless expression of Oregon's viticultural depth.
