Le Chaudelune Vin de Glace "Vino del Ghiaccio" is an ice wine made from grapes harvested overnight in the Val D’Aoste region by the Cave Mont Blanc winery, located between the communes of Morgex and La Salle. The vineyards, situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, reach altitudes of 1200 metres, making them among the highest in Europe. The wine is made from 100% Prié Blanc grapes, picked after the first frosts at temperatures between -6 and -10°C, resulting in a unique concentration of sugars. Part of the harvest is used to produce a passito, with cold maceration and aging in various woods, while the remaining grapes are left to freeze on the vine.
This vin de glace is a true rarity, it's very special for any to come to Australia at all.
