About this Wine

Earliest records of this property date to the beginning of the 17th century, when it was owned by a notary of the French king. Simon Malescot bought the property at the end of the 17th C and changed its name to include his surname. After the revolution, Malescot was split and then further divided by subsequent owners. In the mid-19th century, Malescot was sold to Comte Saint-Exupery and gained the name we know today. Debt followed the Comte's death and Malescot was sold to a M Fourcade who undertook a period of acquisition, adding significant vineyard holdings, not least the entirety of Château Dubignon (Dubignon was also a 3rd growth). Malescot was the first Bordeaux property to employ gravity in wine making, but that didn't prevent it falloing into ruin and when bought by the Zeger family in 1955, Malescot had only 7 hectares under vine. This 24 hectare neighbour of Rauzan Ségla has now been restored by the Zeger family, who still own it today.
