About This Wine
This is a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec drawn from Pey-Bon's biodynamically-certified limestone and clay soils in the Premières Côtes de Blaye (on the left bank overlooking the Gironde estuary). The wine was wild yeast fermented and aged in a mixture of concrete and wooden vessels, with very little new oak, and then was bottled unfiltered. It's simply the best example of this wine we have shipped. Nothing like the stereotype of Bordeaux, this is fresh, vibrant and medium bodied. Lovely purity, the red cherry, blackberry, iodine and subtle spice aromatics leading to a pretty, juicy and energetic palate with plenty of pulpy fruit and round tannins and a lip-smacking, tangy close. Another bargain.
