Domaine De Marcoux Les Petits Cailloux 2011
A special, one-off release that we hope will be a regular offering from Domaine de Marcoux. It's a single vineyard, 100% Grenache from the Domaine's biodynamically managed vines in the Les Gallimardes lieu-dit. 2011 conspired to deliver the kind of deliciously, seductive reds for which Marcoux is famed. At five years of age, this is already drinking beautifully. It's a supple, fleshy-textured, layered Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is pure seduction. It has all the hallmark Marcoux balance, finesse and vibrant energy--at a very fine price.
This is cracking value Châteauneuf, with a silky, fleshy personality. Expect waves of surprisingly deep, black currant and dark cherry fruit and also inky spice. It’s certainly ripe in that classic Châteauneuf way (but not at all jammy), and delivers terrific balance for such a generous example. A cracking value that’s getting better and better with age.
