About this Wine

Fletcher Pyrenees Nebbiolo 2011 is an early Australian expression of Nebbiolo from acclaimed winemaker Dave Fletcher, whose career has been deeply influenced by the wines of Piedmont. Produced from cool-climate Pyrenees fruit, the wine reflects Fletcher's goal of creating a distinctly Australian interpretation of Nebbiolo while remaining faithful to the variety's hallmark structure, perfume, and longevity. Fletcher produced both Adelaide Hills and Pyrenees Nebbiolo during this period before relocating permanently to Piedmont in 2012.

After more than a decade of bottle age, the wine displays a mature and complex bouquet of dried rose petals, red cherry, raspberry, orange peel, liquorice, spice, tobacco, and earthy undertones. The palate is light to medium-bodied with flavours of cherry, raspberry, subtle earth, and spice framed by fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Bottle age has softened the wine's youthful structure, allowing savoury tertiary notes to emerge while preserving the variety's characteristic elegance and persistence.

The 2011 vintage is now fully mature and drinking beautifully, offering the classic Nebbiolo combination of floral aromatics, savoury complexity, and refined tannic structure. It pairs particularly well with mushroom dishes, braised meats, game, truffle-based cuisine, and aged hard cheeses.
