About this Wine

The Chardonnay Gaia & Rey di Gaja is obtained from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the territories of Treiso and Serralunga d’Alba, in the province of Cuneo, and coming from vines about 40 years old. During the winemaking process, alcoholic fermentation, which converted sugars into alcohol, took place in barriques. Before being marketed, this magnificent Piedmontese white wine aged for 12 months in barriques and a further 6 months in bottles. The Chardonnay Gaia & Rey di GajaChardonnay Gaia & Rey is the wine that Angelo Gaja, the undisputed king of Barbaresco and a great reference in Piedmontese oenology, dedicated to two important women in his life, his eldest daughter Gaia and his grandmother Clotilde Rey.

The Chardonnay Gaia & Rey di Gaja presents itself in the glass with a straw yellow color and golden reflections. On the nose, it releases aromas of ripe yellow pulp fruit intertwined with hints of white wildflowers and delicate notes of yellow citrus and vanilla. Soft and structured, on the palate, it expresses a gentle freshness and an elegant minerality that lingers in the long finish. It pairs well with semi-mature cheeses and vegetarian dishes, as well as tasty seafood recipes based on white fish, mollusks, and crustaceans. It is also excellent paired with white meats.
