"This presents well. It’s warm with alcohol but the flavours are solid and attractive. It tastes of peppercorns and plums, raspberry and an assortment of florals and spices. Tannin too has been well managed and while the aftertaste brings a subtle saltiness, it doesn’t interfere. You have to be alcohol-heat tolerant perhaps but most red wine drinkers would enjoy this."

TASTING NOTE
Bright dark ruby in the glass with a vivid jasper-red edge, the wine opens with aromas of raspberry, red cherry and freshly crushed thyme. The palate is energetic and expressive, layered with fresh red cherry and maraschino cherry fruit, complemented by subtle savoury notes reminiscent of a kitchen herb garden. Fine tannins and lively acidity carry the flavours through a long, fresh and beautifully balanced finish. – Ben Glae

WINEMAKING
This blend of 84% Shiraz and 16% Grenache is sourced from exceptional old vines in the renowned Ebenezer subdistrict at the northern end of the Barossa Valley. The Shiraz vines range from 50 to 80 years of age, while the Grenache comes from vines between 50 and 100 years old, producing low yields of around 3.5 tonnes per hectare. The Grenache was handled with minimal oak influence to preserve its natural  vibrancy, structure and aromatic purity.  The Shiraz matured for 16 months in  seasoned hogsheads, comprising 80%  French and 20% American oak, adding  subtle complexity while allowing the fruit  to remain the focus

2023 VINTAGE

The 2023 Barossa Valley vintage was shaped by abundant spring rainfall, which replenished soil moisture before a dry, mild summer free from heatwaves. A long, leisurely growing season and late harvest extending beyond Easter allowed the fruit to achieve exceptional flavour development while retaining freshness and balance. The result is a wine of vibrant colour, purity and effortless intensity.
