About This Wine
Sweet. Mauzac Roux is one of the seven varieties of the Mauzac family that are farmed by the Plageoles. The grapes are picked in three passes through the vines and, in strong botrytis years, roughly half the yield comes from botrytis affected fruit. Regardless, the yields generate only 25hl/ha worth of fragrant, golden juice in an average year. In terms of residual, it's the least sweet sweet wine in the range, and the only one fermented and matured exclusively in cement tanks. Expect perfumes of verbena, lime, wild honey and all kinds of flowers, then a textured palate that, although obviously sweet, tastes drier than its 80 grams of residual would suggest. Lovely freshness and energy in this first rate value.
