Inspired by the tales of the mythical Silkie seals that came ashore as beautiful sea maidens and charmed local men, this Irish blended whiskey is from Sliabh Liag Distillers in Donegal - builders and owners of the new Ardara Irish distillery. Dark Silkie has at its core triple-distilled, peated single malt (peated to 55ppm which after distillation becomes 22ppm) matured in sherry casks before being blended with a double-distilled, single malt matured in bourbon barrels, and grain whiskey matured in virgin oak casks. Non-chillfiltered and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Fresh apple and pear with spiced dry smoke and welcoming virgin oak.
Palate: The Dark Silkie's signature softness develops to a rich salted caramel sweetness. Waves of sweet pipe tobacco, liquorice and dark chocolate give way to warm toffee and pear.
Finish: Warming elegant finish of malty smoke and peanut butter.
