Wine Enthusiast – Perhaps the greatest way to taste this legendary winery in an affordable way, this appellation-blend bottling shows baked bramble pie, dried chaparral scrub, licorice, roasted beef and allspice on the palate. The plump blackberry and black-cherry fruit is leveled by rocky minerality and clove spice, all boosted by long lasting acidity.
Antonio Galloni/Vinous – The 2014 Pinot Noir (Central Coast) is plump, juicy and absolutely delicious, all qualities that are best enjoyed over the next few years, while the fruit remains vibrant. Sweet red cherry, plum and spice notes abound in this succulent, beautifully rendered Pinot from Williams Selyem.
About This Wine
On the nose, the Central Coast is quite reticent at first but opens up with elements of plum and hoisin sauce. With some air, notes of black cherry and pomegranate emerge from the glass with a subtle lift of cocoa powder and vanilla bean. The palate bursts with cherry and plum flavors. The weight on the mid-palate gives way to the prototypical chalky, mineral flavor profile of wines from this site. The wine finishes with a wonderful cherry pit and coffee bean impression. The 2014 is a sensational offering that can be enjoyed in the near term.
