Woodlawn Traditional Method Sparkling c241 NV is a vibrant Tasmanian sparkling wine crafted by Ricky Evans under the Woodlawn label, showcasing the freshness and precision for which Tamar Valley sparkling wines are highly regarded. Produced predominantly from the 2024 base vintage, the wine blends mostly Pinot Noir with a smaller Chardonnay component, combining bright fruit purity with subtle lees complexity. Aromas of green apple, lemon zest, white peach, brioche, and pastry cream lead into a finely textured palate with lively acidity and a creamy, mineral-driven finish. The Chardonnay portion undergoes malolactic fermentation to add texture and balance, while 14 months on lees contributes finesse and complexity without losing freshness. Aperitif-focused in style, it remains elegant, energetic, and highly drinkable.

Tasmanian Wine

The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.
More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
