The saturation of fruit, miraculously fidelitous to variety and place, is impressive. Blackcurrant and mulberry; anise and tapenade; sage and bouquet garni, barrage across the mouth, staining every pore. Powerful, sure. But not galumphing. Long and impressive for the idiom. A complex and lifted aroma profile, redolent of riper cassis notes and cooler herbaceous flavours, all superbly supported by quality French oak spice.
Well weighted and sculptured palate, one possessing of blackcurrants, tobacco and hints of dark chocolate, classic Clare Valley tannins and seductive French oak.
A reserve wine, made to cellar for 15 plus years, yet drinking beautifully now upon release.
