James Halliday – On the one hand this seems approachable and complete, so it’s drinking superbly; but, on the other hand, there’s structure and detail with a framework of fine tannins and acidity, ensuring this will garner more complexity in time. Go ahead and enjoy its violets, mulberries and blackberries, raspberry leaf, dousing of licorice, oak spices and black olives with some dark mint-chocolate, too, with plenty of savouriness throughout. James Suckling – by James Suckling Plush aromas of blackcurrants, very herbs and flowers follow through to a medium body with firm, silky tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Extremely fine-crafted and curated here. Drink and enjoy now, but it will improve. Screw cap.

Bright deep Garnet in colour. Concentrated and complex aromas unfold with dark berry coulis and raspberry pip, intertwined with graphite, wet stones, and dry forest floor. Floral notes of everlastings and potpourri emerge, alongside subtle accents of liquorice, star anise, and charcoal. A touch of saddle leather, wax, vanilla, and cedar adds depth to this captivating aroma. A fresh and delicate entry leads to a fleshy core, elevated by buoyant acidity. Medium-bodied with a lovely mouth filling tension, it unfolds with vibrant complexity—notes of blueberry skin, dark chocolate, and firm tannins build towards a long, dry finish. It’s reminiscent of a warm yet assured handshake, exuding confidence.

Margaret River Wine

In the southwest of Western Australia, the Margaret River wine region is unique in that it is the most maritime-influenced region in all of Australia. The cool Indian ocean breezes come in through the summer to keep the temperatures around the vines steady resulting in an unusually even accumulation of warmth in the growing season. It is also quite dry as interestingly less than 20% of the annual rainfall occurs as the grapes are growing. The region’s climatic factors have been compared to what Bordeaux would be like in a dry season. While the region’s total production is relatively small (3% of Australia’s total wine production), it is responsible for 20% of our premium wine market.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz as well as Bordeaux blends are all very popular red wine options in the region.

For whites, refreshing blends of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon as well as complex, age worthy Chardonnays are the specialties.
