The latest vintage, the illustrious 2023, reigns supreme with a level of expression and finesse as robust as its lineage. A stately example of coastal cabernet, the Coleraine ’23 harmonises intricate varietal notes with an elegant structure and a power that feels both balanced and commanding.
Te Mata’s cabernet collection, sourced from seven noble selections across 24 vineyard parcels, is majestic in the Coleraine ’23 blend, commanding a regal 80% of the composition. Joined by 15% merlot and a 5% touch of cabernet franc, this royal assembly reflects the multitude of soil types and vineyard sites that define our sub-regions. Coleraine is New Zealand’s greatest red wine.
Considered by many as NZ's greatest and most collectible wine. The pedigree, the quality, Coleraine can stand toe to toe with any of the great Bordeaux blends in the world.

Wines of Hawke's Bay
The oldest wine producing region in New Zealand, Hawkes bay is located on the east coast of the North Island.
Hawkes bay is split into a few subregions, the most notable of these are Gimblett Gravels, Bridge Pa Triangle and Te Mata Special Character Zone. These subregions are known for producing some of the best reds in the country, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. The top blends from these regions are on par with top level Bordeaux blends from around the world.
White wine is also produced in Hawke’s Bay, with Chardonnay in the lead in terms of volume with Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Viogner following behind.
