James Halliday – Sweet fruit runs through the wine's generous core, with fistfuls of spice around the edges. This is an easy wine to love. Black cherry and plum, woodsy spice, orange jelly and a mix of black pepper and cloves. It's not a big wine but it's itching to impress, in the most pleasing of ways. - Campbell Mattinson
About This Wine
From our single vineyard planted in 1969 on the eastern slopes of the Grampians. A nice even year with little in the way of heat spikes in the region. The Shiraz was hand picked in April, then fermented in traditional open fermenters with hand plunging twice a day. The wine was pressed off to barrel where it matured in French oak (20% new) for 14 months before bottling. This single vineyard Shiraz has great concentration with hints of blueberry, dark cherry, fine tannins and lifted spice. Drinking well now but will also reward cellaring to 2030.
