About This Wine
The Trueman Cabernet Sauvignon is without a doubt one of the finest wines in the in distinguished Hickinbotham range. The pretty topnote aromas of bergamot and blueberry cover the first impressions of flavour. Step two is the strapping acid-and-tannin realisation; then the finish goes on and on: a dainty but determined and forceful sensation of texture more than flavour. Hand picked fruit sourced from an elevated vineyard on the Hickinbotham site, this is a, “modern Cabernet that encapsulates all the toil and antiquity of Clarendon.” This is one of the finest examples of Cabernet you will find in McLaren Vale Something for a special occasion to be sure, and a must have for any serious collector of this noble variety.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 months in 75% new French oak.
James Halliday – Grown on a vineyard planted in '71. This is a superb cabernet. Dusty, dry and herbal but awash with sweet, boysenberried, blackcurrant-drenched fruit. It lays down oodles of flavour, not to mention tannin, but it's fragrant and frisky at the same time. One sip and you can't let go; it has you in its thrall. (Campbell Mattinson)
James Suckling – “Intense aromas of ripe dark berries, purple olives, violets…the palate is dense, concentrated and packed with dark-berry flavors.” Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com, May 2020 - 94 points
