Critic reviews

James Halliday – Pinot Noir sourced from the Woodlands vineyard in the Coal River Valley. Bright cherry fruit studded with spice, pomegranate, pressed flowers, cranberry, mountain herbs and subtle undergrowth at the core. There is a pleasing depth to the dark cherry and wild strawberry fruits with fine powdery tannins, a bright mineral-laden line and a composed, savoury swish of the tail on the exit. – Dave Brookes

Vintage Vigilant

We aim to have all wines above $30 be vintage specific. In the case the listed vintage is out of stock and you note you would like that particular vintage, we will inform you via email for approval to go ahead.

About this Wine

Hand-picked Pinot Noir was de-stemmed into two 4T open top fermenters with the addition of 10% whole cluster. Alcoholic fermentation was left to occur naturally with no additions. Cap management was exclusively pumping over twice daily to wet the cap and minimise over extraction. Time on skins was 15 days. The resulting wine was pressed directly to 500L French oak puncheons (30% new) where it rested with minimal intervention for 11 months prior to bottling.

A ripe core of raspberry and crimson cherry fruit, prelude floral violet perfume and subtle cinnamon. Luminous spice covers a dense core of fruit, with supple, velvety tannin providing length and finesse. – Liam McElhinney

Tasmanian Wine

The Tasmanian wine region is a cool climate region, the most southerly of all wine regions in Australia. Due to the lower temperatures, the area grows primarily Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, with smaller plantings of Riesling, Pinot Gris and Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Having been to many wine tastings over the years, I can definitely say from a personal standpoint that Tasmanian Chardonnay and Pinot noir are always ones I look forward to trying if they are on the menu. They are almost always high calibre wines that can easily compete against what the rest of the world has to offer in these varietals.” Jason C. – World Wine.

While Tasmania makes great still wines, the exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir also make for excellent sparkling wines.

More recent vintages since 2005 have been positively impacted by the effects of global warming. With slightly higher temperatures the grapes are ensured to ripen fully and produce more vibrant wine.
