About this Wine

Ribolla Gialla is a most revered variety of the natural wine makers found in Italy's north-east.
Quealy established their Ribolla Giallo plot in 2018. Its a variety that suits a cool maritime climate such as ours.

Ribolla Giallo bunches are moderate in size, say 100 to 120 grams. Even so we only allow one bunch per shoot to ripen. After bunch closure in December, we remove excess bunches. It's a variety that in many ways has a similar personality and for us deem as aristocratic as Riesling. The variety is not as aromatic as Riesling but is indeed deeply perfumed. Acidity is high and although picked late, it keeps moderate sugar levels.

Mornington Peninsula Wines

South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula grape growing region has a cool, maritime climate that is most known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. Other varieties that have seen some success here include Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.

However, it does seem that Pinot Noir is their focus judging from the fact that The Mornington Peninsula International Pinot Noir Celebration is held once every two years. The event displays the region’s capabilities in making some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir in front of local and international audiences.
