About This Wine
Vibrant green straw to the eye. This wine is concentrated, rich and powerful. The funky leesy oak nose with delicious Meyer lemon, Golden Delicious apple, stone fruits and nougat notes further attests to its intricacy. More leesy complexity on the palate with fennel and vanilla with mushroom undertones. A deliciously generous and focused chardonnay.
Mornington Peninsula Wines
South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula grape growing region has a cool, maritime climate that is most known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. Other varieties that have seen some success here include Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.
However, it does seem that Pinot Noir is their focus judging from the fact that The Mornington Peninsula International Pinot Noir Celebration is held once every two years. The event displays the region’s capabilities in making some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir in front of local and international audiences.
The Wine Front – Classy wine since forever. Quite high toned floral perfume, shows some struck match/flint too, lean citrus character in the mix, even a touch of green herbs. I like it. The palate is quite lean but has a pleasing saline-mineral character layered on chalky, green apply fruit flavours and just a suggestion of marzipan oak character. It’s lovely, albeit quite green in its spectrum of fruit, though that curl of savouriness is there to lend a hand. I like the understatement, the pronounced mineral charm. It’s curious, complex, distinct and delicious stuff.
