A wonderful example of Coolart and the 'down the hill' style Pinot. Spice and raspberry coulis are plentiful on the nose before you delve into a more floral, blackcurrant and umami palate. These flavours work magically with the small portion of this wine that has been whole bunch fermented, which create a sultry feel with a chewy savoury tannin edge.
Set in the warmer northern part of the Mornington Peninsula between Devilbend Reservoir and Western Port Bay, this is our lowest and warmest vineyard, with a maximum elevation of 72 metres.
Home to our winery, Coolart Road typically ripens around three weeks earlier than our vineyards up the hill in Main Ridge.
The soils down the hill are very different to the red ferrosols common to the Main Ridge subregion, with brown and yellow chromosols reflecting the distinct character of this lower northern part of the Peninsula.

Mornington Peninsula Wines

South of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula grape growing region has a cool, maritime climate that is most known for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay production. Other varieties that have seen some success here include Pinot Gris and Tempranillo.
However, it does seem that Pinot Noir is their focus judging from the fact that The Mornington Peninsula International Pinot Noir Celebration is held once every two years. The event displays the region’s capabilities in making some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir in front of local and international audiences.
